Can you compres air in a recipient until it turns into liquid or solid state?

Question

If you had a very resistent recipient and appliend enough force to compress the air inside would it turn into liquid and then solid state due to the fact that molecules get so close together?

What force would you need?

Yes.
Hydraulic should work.
You will probably need a heat exchanger as well since compressing the gas will probably create a lot of heat, as well.
