Lee Harvey Oswald probably pulled the trigger. I don't know whether there was another gunman, but I'm not sure that it matters. The interesting question is: Why did Oswald shoot Kennedy? Who put him up to it? What was the reason for the assassination for which Oswald was hired as a hit-man?
When you examine John F. Kennedy's acts as President of the United States, with an eye toward learning what he might have done to make powerful enemies, one thing stands out above all else. Kennedy published an executive order by which the Federal Reserve banking system was stripped of its unconstitutional power to make money and regulate its value, transferring that power back to Congress where, legally, it belongs. Also, it's significant that the first thing Lyndon B. Johnson did, upon succeeding JFK as president, was issue another executive order rescinding Kennedy's. There you have found motive, and, given the resources of the offended party, also the means. The opportunity was bound to come along before long: it happened to be in Dallas.
Jack Ruby obviously killed Oswald in order to prevent Oswald from answering those questions. Jack Ruby allegedly died of lung cancer in prison while waiting for trial, but is that really true? How do we know whether it is true or a fabrication intended to cover Ruby's murder by poison?
Jack Ruby is the goy-name of a Jewish mobster whose real name was Jacob Rubenstein. He probably thought that since he was a Jew he could carry out the "silencing" of Lee Harvey Oswald and then get off easy on the strength of his story about avenging the widowed Jacqueline Kennedy on her husband's killer. Much to his surprise, it didn't work and he was held in prison for his own trial. Fearing what might come out of Ruby's testimony, other (bigger, higher, Federal Reserve Board) Jews had Ruby poisoned and afterward his death was blamed on lung cancer.
That's just my guess. I don't really know what killed Jacob Rubenstein, but I find the lung cancer explanation far too convenient to those who might have been jeopardized by Ruby's testimony and too lacking in previously published documentation.

Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated John F. Kennedy, conspiracy theorists aside. A theory is a body of factual evidence that explains an occurrence, naturally. Many of the conspiracy " theories " have been refuted, such as the grassy knoll shot and that Oswald could not have got off three shot with his rifle. People seem to have a propensity to believe things without even the intimation of evidence or hope of favorable outcome. If Oswald was someone elses assassin, we probable will never know, but speculation in front of the fact is futile. Look always at evidence, not what men want or need to believe.

This is a matter of debate among conspiracy theorists. The official answer is Lee Harvey Oswald.
Here's the theories...
1) Another shot from the grassy knoll from a 2nd party.
2) The CIA did it to silence a "loose cannon" president.
3) The KGB did it as a part of the cold war.
4) The mob did it because Kennedy and his brother Bobby wanted to prosecute them.

Jimmy "the Weisel" Frattiano claimed that Giancana (the then Boss of Bosses out of Chicago) gave the go ahead for Marcello (of New Orleans) to carry out the assassination. It involved Castro (who had a grudge after finding out the CIA was behind the Bay of Pigs Invastion) so he got a patsy (Oswald) from the Russians to carry-out the deed. Marcello's beef was a result of RFK's investigations into organized crime. To cover the link to the Mafia, Marcello had Jack Ruby (a two bit night club owner in the Marcello organization) take out Oswald to seal his lips.
Giancana's beef with JFK was his impression that JFK renigged on promises to leave the Mafia alone since he felt he pulled strings in Chicago to get him elected.
Several weeks before the assassination, Oswald met with Cuban agents in Mexico. For inexplicable reasons, the FBI agents who were following up the Cuban connection as a part of the Warren Commission investigation, were recalled back by FBI Central office

It was Lee Harvey Oswald with help from someone else. He was smart enough to do it on his own.
