Maybe he's just not ready for solids. During the first year, solids are mostly for fun and practice anyway. Don't push it. Offer casually every few days and see if he decides to eat it. Try bananas as most babies like those. Avocados and sweet potatoes are also good first foods.

I found that adding a bit of formula to rice cereal (it should be quite runny) helped a bit. How many teeth does your wee one have? I always judged readiness to try solids by the number of teeth a baby has - which is why you shouldn't give steak sandwiches to a newborn.
Babies are incredibly attuned to any anxieties caregivers express. If your baby is sitting upright in a high chair, try just putting a very small amount of rice cereal (if it seems I emphasize rice it's because it seems to generate the fewest number of GI distress events or allergies) in a small bit wide bowl (to prevent tipping) and see if he doesn't try it by himself that way. If your doc says his weight is fine then all you can do is introduce JUST A LITTLE bit of rice cereal with formula.
I don't know where you got the idea that giving a baby vitamins will somehow inspire him to eat solids. If you've spoken with your doc, he or she may already have talked with you about this; if not, either go and see your doc again (bearing in mind that most doctors are already very busy and so you may not get in too terribly soon) or perhaps try talking with a health clinic nurse.

if he wont eat solids he is probably not ready yet, keep giving him formula and try solids again in a few weeks. it will make things a whole lot easier on you and him. if the doctor says his weight is fine then you really shouldnt worry, he is probably fine. it wont hurt him to give him vitamins but it wont necessarily make him eat more either.

Introducing solids under the age of one is just to help them learn to eat. Under a year, the main source of nutrition is breastmilk or formula, so don't freak out. Babies often don't like change and will fight eating. Is he teething? If so, he may like the comfort of a bottle right now. Consistency is the key. Keep trying to get him use to it and he'll eventually come around. I know how frustration it is. My daughter fought me for what seemed like forever. Good luck.

If the doc says he is alright I wouldn't worry then. He will eat when he wants to. Your baby is probably getting a laugh out you worrying and trying to get him to eat. He will get to where the formula is not enough to satisfy him and then he will start eating. Just keep trying!

Keep trying, but don't try anything too thick. Our old pediatrician had a saying, "No child ever starved to death when there was food available." This goes also for over-picky eaters.

Our doctor said to my wife and I when we presented this same concern to him.
He was very clear - don't worry. Kids will eat when they are hungry. Provide variety but don't force them to eat, otherwise meal time will not be enjoyable for them and they will become very difficult to handle. Let them play with their food as much as eat it. make it fun and they will eat more you want them to then other times.
Good Luck!

DON'T WORRY SO MUCH, TRY A BABY FOOD FEEDER. IT'S LIKE A BOTTLE, BUT HOLDS BABYFOOD AND CEREL INSTEAD.
