If you go to www.cingular.com and login and everything, it will tell you exactly when you are eligible for an upgrade (usually it's about a year) and with Cingular it's so easy. I did mine just recently and got a LG CU500. Love it.

You can upgrade anytime. Now of course that depends on which wireless service you have. Some wirelesss services out there are picky. To me you can upgrade anytime but i think if you want to upgrade to a different phone you would be surcharged for it, for transferring the service to the new phone. If this doesn't help ask your wireless service. Them more than anything can answer you questions about their plans and their cells.

I have Cingulair and you can get a new phone every year. It will require you extend you plan by another year at that point (2 years total from purchase)
I just did the same thing and I got a new Razor. They have lots of phones to choose from though for free.
