It's not really an abortion issue, but I agree that seatbelt laws are not needed.
Also, having an abortion is taking responsibility for your actions, not shirking it. Having a baby just because a condom broke then pawning it off to someone else or not raising it properly is shirking responsibility, in my book.
Laws really should only be made when one person's actions negatively affect another person. Seat belt laws and abortion really only affect the person involved. Though, there is a minor argument that could be made that seat belt laws affect everybody's insurance rates, but that's not a strong argument.

OK, let's get real here. Any time someone posts an anti-abortion related question the pro-abortionists immediately jump to rape and incest, but studies done by Planned Parenthood the Department of Health and Human Services show that the number of abortions performed due to rape or incest are less than half a percent. Contrary to the uninformed opinion expressed here, it IS a very simple issue -- abortion on demand is about a woman who wants to do the deed but doesn't want to take responsibility for her actions if she gets pregnant. And please spare me with the talk about how it takes two to tango -- with the exception of rape and incest victims, every woman has the power to prevent pregnancy by keeping her legs together. Even the pro-lifers don't object to abortion in cases of rape and incest, but pro-lifers VERY MUCH object to the state-sanctioned murder of unborn children just because some $lut doesn't want to be burdened with a child -- ya don't want 'em then DON'T F**K AROUND!!!
Sorry, got off on a bit of a tangent there. To answer your question about seatbelts: I agree with you that there shouldn't be a law against it, but in that case insurance companies should have the power to deny claims for death or medical expenses if you didn't wear your seatbelt and assumed the risk. So why is there a law requiring you to wear a seatbelt? Simple: There is no right to drive. Every state in the union considers driving a privilege that is only extended to certain people who are old enough and capable enough to operate a motor vehicle safely. Have you ever read the application for a drivers license? You actually sign away several rights when you apply for a drivers license. The overarching agreement that you make when applying for a license is that you will obey all rules and laws passed pertaining to the operation of a motor vehicle, so any time they pass a new driving law you have to obey it, and failure to do so could mean suspension or revocation of your license. See how they get you?

If you would rather die in a car crash than take 10 sec to put a belt on your lap then that's your choice. It's not the law in all states so move somewhere else so you can be stupid without breaking the law.
and dude who answered first (nondescript) your response has a contradiction. You said a law shouldn't be made unless it negatively affects another person. But doesn't killing a child or later to be adult negatively affect them??? I mean since it makes them dead?? I'd say thats negative.

Good point, I don't understand why abortion is legal because it encourages girls and women to have unprotected sex, and it gives the guy a way out to. Both get to shirk their responsibility. I find it appalling that our government allows this to happen. The seat belt thing is just an example of the twisted hypocrisy we have in laws. A disgrace.

Why wouldn't you want to be safe, The reason I have a problem with abortion is because birth control is free and so many girls CHOOSE not to be on birth control. Choices are everywhere and no one wants to see your guts on the road.

You have a choice just like they do. And they both come with consequences. You have to decide if you are willing to pay the price. Their price is living with the fact that they destroyed a part of themselves.

Its not shirking responsibility.
Tell me, do you think that a 10 year old girl thats been raped by her father and got pregnant should be forced to carry to term?
Or how about a woman thats was just walking down the street (or hell, even in her apartment just relaxing and watching tv) and was attacked and raped should be forced to carry to term?
Honestly, its not as black and white as anti abortionists keep trying to paint it.

IF I CAN RIDE A BIKE AT 70+ MPH WITHOUT A SEAT BELT. THEN ADULTS USING SEAT BELTS IN CARS PERHAPS SHOULD BE ABLE TO DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES. BUT, I BELIEVE CHILDREN SHOULD ALWAYS BE BUCKLED UNTIL THEY ARE MATURE ENOUGH TO MAKE AN EDUCATED DECISION ON THEIR OWN......
IF I'M IN A CAR AND YOUR IN A CAR AND WE HIT EACH OTHER HEAD ON AND I HAVE A SEAT BELT AND YOU FLY THROUGH YOUR WINDSHIELD AND GET BRAINS ON ME I'LL BE PISSED.
