Actually, I've seen people do some amazingly selfless and kind things. I don't think people can quit being people in general...take the good, take the bad and that's the facts of life.

Apparently, you are reading the newspaper, but you don't understand what you read.
What percentage of people commit the crimes?
Do you realize the rest of us aren't committing crimes?
If the crime rate is at 10% that means 90% are being good.
Also, there is no evil, such selfish and uncaring motivation.

the news paper just shows us the exciting and stupid stuff people do
we really don't know right from wrong
the only rules we have we made
and a long time ago
so who's to say that any deviant behavior is evil
just try not to hurt anyone and you should be fine

Maybe we ought to forget the judgmental term, "evil ", it is much too subjective, anyway. Evil seems to describe what other people do, and when we do the same thing as they, we have righteous justification.
