Yeah, you sure can be. I'm 34 weeks, went to the doctor today, and I'm dilated a centimeter and a half. Since you're still about 2 weeks away from the official full-term mark, you probably need to go to your doctor. Mine just told me today to continue getting rest and hit the hospital if I feel any contractions.

Yes, some women are dialated earlier than 36 weeks, some don't ever dialate or, like me, dialate so little that they end up having a c-section.

If you are 36 weeks pregnant, you should have another doctor's appointment soon. And if they aren't already, pretty soon they will also start checking on a regular basis (weekly or every other week) to see if you are.

Watch for other signs that your baby may be coming soon, such as a tightening feeling in your stomach or back pain. I can understand the not wanting to go to the doctor, but he/she is the most qualified to answer that question.

Make sure you go to all of your apointments and take good care of yourself for the next few weeks. And if you do get worried about your baby or think that you may be going into labor, go ahead and see your doctor or at least try to speak to your nurse. Many places have numbers that you can call and speak to someone if you are curious about if it's time to go see a doctor. I got the number for my area by calling the local hospital.

Congratulations :) I wish you and your family well. And I wish that I could give you a more definate answer about how to know if you are dialated. Feeling pressure from your baby and your husband saying that you are bigger down there could very well be signs that the process has started.

You most certainly could be dilated . I dilated at 34 weeks. The only way to check without a doctor is for you or your husband to feel with your own fingers. It should be completely closed(your cervix). If you can fit a finger in your cervix or ther is an opening you are probably dilated. And down there is bigger because of the pressure of the baby most likely. dilation doesn't really mean much though. Your 36 weeks you already know your time is close. You don't need dilation to prove that. Some women don't dilate until they go into labor.

Well 36 weeks is considered full term. If everything has gone perfectly so far then i wouldn't worry. You're going to feel alot more pressure here soon. I just had my 37 week appt. about 4 days ago and it just hurts to walk because of the pressure. At your next appt. the dr. will check your cervix if you have had any contractions. its not necessary to do it at 37 weeks but i was curious. If you're dialated right now you're probably only at a 1 or 2 but only if everything has gone according to plan so far. Just check in with your doc! you're almost there girl, hang in there. this is my first pregnancy as well and i am super excited! i hope everything goes well! good luck!

There is no way to know at home if you are dialated or not without knowing how to check proplerly. Your husband may be commenting on the fact that your vagina is swollen b/c the outer lips of your vagina due get larger when you are pregnant. There is extra blood flow to your genital area which can make your outer lips appear larger and darker in color. By this time you should be seeing your doctor on a weekly bases , so at your next check up ask them to see if you are dialted or not :) Good Luck

Yes I started dilating at 32 weeks, and both of my children waited until 41 weeks to come out.

I was 1cm dialated my 35th week. I am now 38 weeks and still 1 cm. It can be days then again it could be weeks. You dont want to have a baby at 36 weeks, 38 is full term. Only a doctor can tell you if you are dialated. Good Luck!

You can dilate for a couple of weeks. Not to worry unless labor pains start, water breaks, etc. Ask your doctor at your next appt. if you are still worried --- which should be soon, right?

You could be, but you defiantly need to go to the doc and be checked out if you start having any contractions. Its not uncommon to be one or two centimeters dilated for one or two weeks. I was!

You could not know that unless you have your OB or a nurse check your cervix.Dilating is not usually something you feel.
