Ipod download?

I want to download some songs from my friends Itune account to my ipod. I've been told that this can be done but then when you resync you loose the songs. Is there a way around this??

no syncing needed.
You just have to bring the connecting wire and your iPod to your friend's house. Then just plug it in, and transfer the music you want.

UNLESS
you want to take the new music you just got from the iPod and transfer that to your comp. That requires syncing... but i've never heard of loosing music with this way
