ATI is working on an external solution.
Engadget talks about it. You may want to contact ATI and find out about being given sales updates when it comes out.

Why? Are you trying to play games on it? If so, save your money. Games on a laptop never run well. They heat up too much and it slows things down.
Upgrading a laptop is not an easy job and needs to be done by a professional. So... before you spend the big bucks, probably 300-400, make sure it's something you really need to do.

It depends on what model of Gateway laptop you have. Most have cards that are built into the motherboard and cannot be replaced, but some do have separate cards that plug into the motherboard and can be replaced. In order to replace it you have to tear the entire laptop apart...if you are not comfortable or don't know how, don't do it and send it to a professional. I've replaced motherboards on many Gateway laptops and they are no picnic, believe me.

It depends on just how bad your onboard video is. I've seen some 32Mb PCMCIA/CardBus video cards but they're very expensive for what they are. You're better off getting a new laptop. That's one of the disadvantages with laptops; unless you're adding RAM or a bigger hard drive, they're difficult to upgrade.

Laptops are very difficult to upgrade, and gateway deliberately makes it almost impossible. Sorry!

They dont sell GeForce2 anymore. Your laptop probably has a built in graphics card on your motherboard so you wont be able to update it.
