For a typical teenage girl books by these authors are the best:
Meg Cabot
Hailey Abbott
Ann Brashares
Rachel Cohn
Cathy Hopkins
Lauren Myracle
Stephenie Meyer
Libba Bray
Cecily von Ziegesar
Emily Franklin
Kate Brian
But as of right now the best books (in my opinion) for a typical teen girl are by Kate Brian
Private
Invitation Only
Untouchable
Read them in the order I have them.
HAPPY READING!!! ;)

I was a teenage girl when I started reading Stephen King. I have now read everything he's written and just finished his latest "Lisey's Story." That being said -- it depends on the type of stories you like. A couple of good books that I think all teens should read are "To Kill a Mocking Bird," and "Catcher in the Rye."

any type of book can do. It just depends on what you like to read. I'm more into fiction/political type of things. I love thrillers. Some easy one to start with would be any John Grisham books. If you like his stuff but want something deeper try some Dan brown books. If your a conspiracy kinda girl definitely give Dan brown a try...go for -Angels and Demons- or one of my fav. -The Da Vinci Code-. Mary Higgins Clark is also good to read. she's a scary thriller kind of author. I liked -Remember Me-. Stephen king is also quite good. If you like science fiction try Ray Bradbury -Fahrenheit 451- or Michael Crichton.
Now if you like the romantic novel definitely try Nickolas Sparks, if you saw and like -A walk to Remember- you would like his books.
