long story short, fresh hot coffee was spilled on my laptop screen, the laptop still works but it looks like coffee went in behind the screen (and a lot of it). is there anything that can be done to clean it out or does it absolutely have to be replaced?

What kind of warranty do you have? A lot of manufacturers have a warranty that cover this stuff. If you don't have this type of warranty and feel comfortable in taking it apart you could open it up and wipe it out. DONT spray anything on it. Use a damp paper towel or cloth. I have had this happen to some employees. Good Luck.
