It's probably all in your head but I'll give you some advice:
1. if you are wearing Uggs, Emu's, mukluks..the very rounded frumpy looking boots, then you should wear jeans that you can tuck in and have some creases or folding around the top of the boot as oppose to a smooth look from the jean. You can also wear skinny jeans but you are going for a causal look with these boots so try a nice fitted tshirt, a cute top..nothing too fancy
2. If you have the high leather, sleek more stylish Jockey resembling boots then you need to wear skinny jeans or pants that will look smooth and fitted tucked nicely into the boots
This is the more dressed up boots, so try a nice top, one of those longer tops/ blouses that stop around the hips, and a nice thick belt.
try experimenting, I doubt you look as foolish as you think..
big rule of thumb do not wear baggy or frumpy pants with the long leather boots it looks like a "mother gone wrong" style..
good luck

Girl, I had to deal with this exact problem a few weeks ago. I love the look of boots over jeans, but I had to try on a bunch of different pairs of jeans before I was happy. When it came down to it, this was the solution...you need to buy some skinny jeans!!! I tried on some of my other jeans and I even bought some new ones, but they still looked a bit baggy around the knees, and I didn't like that at all. So, I returned it and bought some skinny jeans and they look great!!! I got lots of complements on the look! Hope that helps! Good luck! :o)

what works for me is to wear a long silky tanktop over skinny jeans (it's easier to get them into boots). my boots go up mid leg.i guess it kinda helps if you have a butt.
by the way, sweaters look really good too.

It's probably all in your head. As long as you have on slim or skinny fit jeans you should be fine. I wear mine with many styles of tops from t's to sweaters.

You should look nice. Maybe you are just too hard on yourself. Ask for another opinion, like a good friend , or two, or three.Or just keep on wearing them until you get used to yourself wearing that look.

exactly what the person above me said, but i think it also depends on the type of boots. if you have uggs (or look alikes) pulling off the look should be fairly easy. if you have some sort of leather black boots.....then idk what you should do.
