your job can really push you to become a certain way, but i think whether or not you succumb to that really depends on your initial personality. if you were able to hold up against pressure before, then you'll probably be able to maintain your career and your life all the while remaining the same person. if you were an easy target for being pushed to do things before, then most likely your job will effect the type of person you are. i don't really know if i made sense. well, hope your dad doesn't turn into a psychotic abusive asshole. seriously.

Yes, it can. I have known many men that have changed once becoming a cop. My ex-husband became totally different once he was on the force and we were in a small town, I can only imagine if it's a big city. If you are good at a job you become a part of your environment otherwise you simply don't fit in and move on to something else and this is true with most professions.

Absolutely, it can. I think any career will change you in some way, for better or worse, if you stick with it for a while. My father was a cop as well. After 30 years he was bitter, but never abusive. Other cops that I knew, however, took the opposite approach. They chose to focus on the good they do in their job and become more giving and optomistic. Your job is like any other life experience - it can change you in many ways if you let it.

yes, i think it can. especially if u have a demanding job like cop or an attorney or social workers or debt collectors. think about all the gruesome stuff these people have seen, and the awful people they meet. people in these jobs get their lives threatened alot and this could make them paranoid. then they become psycotic abusive as sholes.

I think so. My friend was a great person....Laughed at EVERYTHING...I MEAN EVERYTHING!!!
Then he Became a Radiation Oncologist Medical Doctor. Now he barely smiles :(
However, my other friend Became an Orthopedic Surgeon...she's still the same if not peppier! Go figure!
I think you should do a job that suits your personality...you will be so much HAPPIER!!!

Perhaps in that profession it can happen. I am a nurse and I prefer to think that my career is an extension of a nurturing personality that I already possess. Interesting question.

Yes. Many times we become like those we are around or spend time with, I know this can have a positive or negative effect.
