If so, did you have to live on the street or did someone take you in? My daughter's friend got kicked out by his father and had to live with friends until he graduated.
If you're a parent, have you ever thrown out one of your kids for being gay? Would you? If you did, did you ever take them back?

I should also mention that my church group supported a homeless shelter for runaway teens, many of whom had been thrown out by parents and stepparents for being gay. It's still too common a practice.
Ken should know that gay teens tend to feel that it's their parents and society that don't listen to them. In fairness, he may actually feel differently if in fact one of his kids did turn out to be gay. I have a son who died young, and I'd rather he were alive and gay than straight and dead, believe me.

I am not yet a parent, but my wife and I may be soon. Neither of us would ever dare do something so horrible and abusive as kicking out one of our own children because of who they are. I will love my sons and daughters no matter who they grow up to become.

At the age of 18, I met my future partner at the office where I was first employed. 3 years later we decided to purchase a house and live together. We had been visiting each others homes over that time and when I told my mother she said "You know I have always wanted grandchildren but Gwenneth is a wonderful person. If this is what both of you really want then treat her kindly and with love."
I never learned what Gwen's parents said but from that time they were bitterly hostile. Gwen died after 42 years loving companionship. Even then her family were truly vile; but that is to long a story for this answer.
My loving sympathy to those who suffer in this way, Rose P.

My Mom was long dead and when I told my Dad he wanted to meet my guy, so when I brought him to the ranch to meet Dad my father was so freaking thrilled. He finally after praying for so long, had someone to totally understood ranching and had as much practical experience. When I look back on it now, I realize those two wound up spending so much time together, in retrospect it was kind of like Brokeback Milkbone. LMAO

I was lucky enought that when I told my mom, she was proud. However, when I told my real dad and my step mom about it, my step mom freaked. She is of the Born again Christians, and I had no where else to go, I asked them if I could stay there, and the ONE thing she said to me was, no sex. But not with a guy, just no sex with a girl. I went back to pretty much nothing, and had to do it on my own.
It impacted me a lot, because it made me feel like I didn't belong and that they were stupid for not accepting me.
I have not yet since talked to my dad and its his fault not mine for not accepting me.

I was already out of the house but only 17. I was asked to not come back and told they had my funeral cause I was dead in the eyes of the lord. So I stood strong and learn the bible and give it back to them.
Although I have taken them in when they have needed a place.

Unfortunately some people are just plain cruel..My mom cried at first then she got over it and now she could care less..It just takes some time --I still haven't told my father though--I think he might suspect it..people are like that because of religion and that stupid bible--Gawd I hate religion sooo much..Not faith just religion
