Sucks. The students are like living the parents' dreams. I got sent for 4 different subject tuition classes since primary 1 and extentive music classes. If you don't do that you'll usually lag. Everyone is like trying to force their way to the top.
I agree with the original poster about those going to bad streams. I have a few friends who just happen to not very well in PSLE, took normal stream. Their lives only went downwards from then on. Thank goodness I did well.

The education system is "getting better". Kids are still not taught to think out of the box. They are not taught to think for themselves, and it shows in society today. We just follow, we just do, but we hardly question "why" or "why not?".
Stress and getting fantastic grades are imposed by the kids' parents. I have heard of 3 year olds who are sent to tuition class from 9am to 3pm everyday! When do they get a chance to be kids?
If you're sending your kids to extra tuition, extra class, extra lessons...then why send them to school to begin with!? Isn't school supposed to be the primary source of education? Why pay for school then? It's super kiasu kiasi.

Im a singaporean myself. The singapore training gadget is fairly prevalent. there's a heavy emphasis to flow scholars into distinctive area of interest and vocation. it is likewise very maths and technology in intensity. generally, the scholars are taught a plenty bigger ranges of maths and technology than in many western international places. there is likewise an excellent emphasis on tertiary training. Universities (public ones) are heavily subsidised (ensuing in ridiculously inexpensive classes for Singaporeans) and enables the institute itself to concentration on improving high quality. Singapore universities, however portion of a regulated public gadget, are of severe high quality and popularity (in terms of coaching and examine) and its ranked bigger than many ivy league college. reward of our gadget is that it may prepare and mildew human beings for a high quality artwork stress in a flexible way that adjusts to guy or woman aptitudes.

I think the education system is stressful. It forces students to try producing good results and when those results aren't produced, it pulls them down. But it's very effective. The kids that do produce those good results often do well in the future.
Point is, it sucks, but it works.

It is not very stressful, unless parents sent their children for lots of tuitions and put them under a lot of pressure, but it is good in a way that they will pass their exams with flying colours and go to a good school so they won't study in lousy streams.
