it should have a cover to keep snow and rain off the wood but not sealed, it will need air circulation to dry it out and keep it dry.

Also do not store right up against your house as this will attract a variety of insects to that wall of your home and if there are any holes or access points - you will have a few extra friends to sleep with - mainly spiders ;-)

It's better to keep it covered just in case if it rains. You want the firewood to be as dry as possible.

I still use firewood, and I keep it ouside, stacked up between two trees, uncovered. But if I know it's gonna rain, I bring some of it inside.

if its indoors, or under a cover of any kind, then no. But if it's just stacked in the yard then cover with a tarp to keep rain & snow from soaking it. Wet logs don't burn well.
