I'm not working and living with a friend who in about three months will be moving out of state. At the same time the baby is due, however I have no money, job, baby bed or other things needed for the arrival of my new and first born baby. Where do I go to and what should I do?

Is there a reason you're not working? There are positions available in many fields of work that wouldn't require you to do a lot, and wouldn't interfere with your pregnancy (i.e. being a receptionist somewhere). I'd try to find a job, if you're able, and start looking into state-run assistance agencies. Contact your local Goodwill or Salvation Army about baby supplies, too. Local churches in your area may also offer assitance programs for baby supplies. Good luck.

Is there another friend or family member that you could live with? Check out Salvation Army or other Goodwill stores for supplies, breastfeed (cheaper than formula!), take all the help you can get. As hard as it will be, you will need a job to support yourself and your baby, especially if you don't have any family members to lean on.

The best thing to do would be get involved with some kind of charity organization that can help you out.

Good luck!

You need to go to social services they will help you a lot and give you a resource list . Also locate a pregnancy center near you they will help you with baby items. Those are the best two places I can think of. When you have the baby the hospital will tell you what you need to do also. Good luck!

Obivously you have internet access. Their are charities that give away brand new baby furniture.

Also, you can go to an employment agency and try doing some temp jobs here and there.

Or you can go to stores like burlington coat factory that have the products you need and take lay-a-way that way you can pay for your babies stuff in portions.

Get on disability, get subsidized housing according to your income, and get on wic and other things that help cover the cost of babies and moms.

You can contact local churches and tell them of your need for a crib and other baby items.

I would go to your local family support office ( where I live it's DFS) and they should sign you up for food stamps and TANF(temprary assistance for needy families) You will get money for food and them also get cash on the card for other things you need daipers, bottles, etc. Good luck and keep your head up.

I would contract your state welfare office (or children's services some states don't call it "welfare") and see what is available to you.
