Most hospitals offer rooming in, if you don't want your baby to leave your side then have everything done in the room or you or your spouse can accompany the nurse for bathing, weighing, lab tests, etc.

when i had my first baby, there was one time where i left her with the nurse just so i could get some sleep. my husband had no idea what to do- and neither did i! she offered and we reluctantly said it was ok. she was only gone for a few hours and slept the whole time. i didnt feel uneasy about it because she had been working at the hospital for over 25 years.

I thought I would never allow it. But when my son was crying in the middle of the night, I was tired and getting upset because I couldn't do anything for him, I did. It was the best four hours of sleep I ever had. You know what he was in the nurse's station the whole time because everyone thought he was so cute.

i dont. i birth at home so i dont have to worry about nurses. if i had to birth in the hospital the baby would not leave me unless a trusted friend or family member goes with.
i refuse the shots, eye goo and all other testing they do. if they take baby alone to nursery they tend to do things with out my permission.

Iam not. He stays with me from birth until we go home.

If you mean give the child up to the nurse for adoption, there are procedures and lawyers for those situations.
