I have one of the newer Ps2's and I can't get it online so I can play Star Wars Battlefront II. I have a usb cord connecting my surfboard to my tower. I also have a wireless router. When I connect my surfboard to the router instead of the tower, the connection test on my ps2 is successful, but the dnas athenticating fails. I don't know what to do. I hope that I provided enough information

I had ps2. You run the cable line to the modem. screw it in that is. And make sure you installed the software! The PlayStation comes with a disk to install info on your memory card so you can go online. Also i used to get that message if my modem was of. (i had cable for my Internet connect). I don't know anything about the router or towers but make sure everything is on and that the software is installed. If you cant get it to work simply call sony. They helped me when i has a problem. I think i got the number from inside the playstation manual...good luck!

I had a similar problem. You may need to make sure certain ports are open on your router, since they usually act as firewalls. The ports required should either be found in the manual that came with the PS2's internet software, or on the PS2 website.

Although all routers are different, generally you should be able to go to 192.168.0.1 (or sometimes .101 instead of .1) through your browser (type it in like a website), and search for a place where you can enable certain ports to be open. You may need to refer to your router's documentation.

I hope this helps.
