For too long I thought rap was just about bitches and hoes. Could anyone point me in the direction of a few worthwhile rap/hip hop artists?

First check out Lupe Fiasco, he's up for a few Grammys this year and is the future of hip-hop.

Then check out Common, he used to be called Common Sense, he's got stuff from 1994 till now.

Also check out the Roots, they play their own instruments like a jazz band with thoughtful lyrics.

Then you gotta get with some old school artists to learn what hip hop is all about, cats like Gangstarr, Eric B & Rakim, KRS-1 (Boogie Down Productions), MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J but before 1995.

I hope this helps.

People I like lupe fiasco's album also but there is a gang of other stuff out there. I don't like commercial rap either. But alot of hip hop is hard to find now. Here are some of the groups that i listen to.... Oddisee, Foot in the Door, Oh my God, Dopest album of 2006 hands down. Kenn Starr, Kev Brown, Dopest album of 2005. Kidz in the Hall, Deep Space 5, Mars Ill, Strange Fruit Project, Tunnel Ratz, Danger Mouse, MF Doom, JAy Dilla, And anything before 1996.

Tupac
Notorious B.I.G
Common
Rakim
Eminem
The Game
Theres way more but i cant think of them right now and im too lazy to get my ipod, just go for old school rap from the 90s that was proboly raps golden age, most of todays modern day rap is just about money and hoes and is pointless so i would stay away from most modern day rap.
