A correctional center is where they you to be a more devious criminal. A detention center is where you get graded.

That would be like the difference between a jail and a prison. A jail, or detention center, is where they put people awaiting trial, and where people who are convicted of misdemeanors serve their sentences. A prison, or correctional institution, is where convicted felons are sent to serve theire sentence.
