The medicine's expiration month is July, and the expiration year is 2005.

I've been taking it to lower my fever.

I took it at 7 am, and again at 1:30 pm. At 7, my temperature was 100.6°F, and at 1:30, it was 100.9°F.

My stepfather said it should work still, and that he'll only buy more if he finds a place that has it on sale.

Also, is there a safe way to lower my temperature?

Medicine's potency decreases over time. The expiration date is not a sure fire way to test potency, but it is a date that should be used when taking meds. If the expiration date is within 90 days, it should be fine. If it is after 90 days, the med should be thrown away, because most of its potency has left...especially in liquid form meds.

A med from 2005, especially liquid tylenol, has probably lost almost all of its potency. You need to get a new(er) bottle.

You can take ibuprofen to lower your fever, also, but Doctor's recommend Tylenol because it has been around longer, and has had more research done on it.

Other than Tylenol or Motrin, you can take cool showers to lower your temperature. If you do this, be careful not to cool yourself off too quickly, so that your body does not freak out on you.

Watch your temp, though. If it gets above 103, you need to go to the ER as soon as you can. Increase in temp that fast is a sign of something wrong in your body, and needs to be taken care of ASAP.
