It comes up in a grey box:

SmartBridge Alerts: Motive SB exe- Entry point not found

the procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAP1.DLL

This has happened since I installed Internet Explorer 7

You've either got an HP printer or a cable modem with Broadband Medic. They both use a mini-browser called SmartBridge that uses a file called psap1.dll. IE7, installs a new version of this file. If you want to carry on using IE7, go to
Start > Programs > Startup and right click on Broadband Medic or hpoddt01 and select delete. You won't get pop-up warnings from your printer or cable modem any more - but hey that's progress Microsoft style.

1. Motive SmartBridge© is distributing an old version of PSAPI.DLL. As a
result, users might receive the following error message after installation
of Internet Explorer 7:

"SmartBridge Alerts:MotiveSB.exe Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry
point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link
library PSAPI.DLL"

2. Hal Screen Reader and Supernova Reader Magnifier by Dolphin both may stop
responding when users click commands from Internet Explorer’s file menu.
These two programs are shipped with an older version of psapi.dll that
causes the program to stop responding in Internet Explorer 7.

To resolve this error:

* Go to the installation location for SmartBridge (\Program
Files\Verizon...\Smart...) or Dolphin Hal Screen Reader or Supernova Reader
Magnifier.

[Alternately, search in Windows Explorer (WinKey+E) for "PSAPI.DLL" (without
the quotes); you may need to enable Advanced option and the 3 options
underneath it.]

* Find PSAPI.DLL and rename it to something like PSAPIOLD.DLL

* NB: Do NOT rename the PSAPI.DLL file in C:\Windows\System32 directory!

* Restart the computer.

You definitely need to get yourself a PS/2 keyboard, very useful for a backup. Once you hook up the PS/2 keyboard turn on your PC and load up BIOS (I think it is either F1 or F12 you have to press on the keyboard before Windows even starts to load). As your computer seems to not work, the easiest way is to restore the BIOS back to factory defaults. You'll find this section in some part of the BIOS menu. Then save and restart. If your computer loads up fine then all is good, if not then maybe it is a piece of hardware. Start to remove each piece of hardware inside the computer like the graphics card, then sound card then maybe the ethenet or wireless card. (You have to have the computer off and power unplugged when removing hardware, also make sure your destatic yourself... Touch the metal computer case with both hand before working inside the computer.) After removing one piece of hardware boot up your computer and see if it works, if not then turn off and try again with removing another piece of hardware and so on. I hope this helps... If all else fails I guess you could go to PC World but don't expect it to be free of charge.

That is non-essential software "diagnosis" software used by some ISPs when troubleshooting problems. Disable it unless you need it.
Go to start, run, type in msconfig and uncheck the box by that process in the startup menu.

Digger, disable it - it's not needed anyway.

To disable it,

click start, select Run, type MSCONFIG and find it in the Startup tab, then simply uncheck it, press OK and reboot. You should no longer receive the error.

motivesb.exe is a process by AT&T which allows a user to submit files to the Internet for support. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.
