Yes, this is possible as long as it isn't dial up. You will need to get a router, and it sounds like you would want to get a wireless one so you can use the laptop wherever you happen to be. You will also need to get either wires to run to the router or wireless cards to plug in. Some routers allow you to use a combination of both, wires if the one computer is close, wireless card for the laptop if not close or if you want to move it around. It shouldn't be too expensive to do. If you use a wire for the computer, you can probably get it all done for less than $100, but most certainly for under $150. You can get routers just about anywhere, from Staples to Wal-Mart. Good luck.

Buy a router and make sure to set the router to clone MAC address so that your modem will see the router as being your computer. You can connect as many computers to that router as it will take and, as long as the WAN plug is connected to your modem and the IP addresses are in the same subnet as the internal address of the router, then all of them will get connections.
Finally, if your ISP wants to charge you for multiple computers... then you either shouldn't have mentioned to them that you're connecting multiple computers via a router, or you need to stop letting the people from the ISP walk in your front door.

Yes you can with a wireless router. If you got a hub, then your ISP would have to assign you another IP address which costs extra. A router on the other hand uses the single IP address assigned to you by your ISP and then shares that internet with all your computers by assigning them special internal only IP addresses so there is no extra charge to you from your ISP. You place the wireless router in the same room as your existing computer and cable/DSL modem are in. The cable/DSL modem will then go directly into the wireless router and then you would hook the router up to your computer. If your laptop has wireless capabilities already, then you're set! If it does not, then you will have to get a WiFi card for the laptop. There are combination packages that contain a router and a wireless card for laptops. You can find these things anywhere that sells electronics like Best Buy. Of course deals from online retailers will likely be cheaper. Once you get it up and running, both computers will be able to use the internet at the same time and you will be able to use the laptop on the internet anywhere in the house!

Your computers all have an identical ip because of the fact your router connects to the internet out of your ISP (internet provider provider) and once you're linked to an identical server the place your internet comes from you will all have an identical ip address. If considered one of your computers have a distinctive ip from the others once you nevertheless connect from an identical community then you definately've a excessive challenge. Your ISP (internet provider provider) supplies your community an identical ip. Rapidshare knows which you're linked to an identical router so it incredibly is taking the ip address from the router consistently.

use a router that has mutiple network cables on it, or u can go wireless with a wireless router but youll also have to buy a network card for the other computer wireless routers run up to 45+ and a network card will run you about 40+... you should also be able to keep your same ip address but each computer will have its internal address so if you ever run a server youll be safe..Good luck

i have 2 computers at home and my ISP don't ask me for an extra fee
i believe if you are using it for personnel purposes i think they won't charge unless you have an internet shop
to be sure. it is not bad to ask your service provider about your terms and agreement

Sure you can,
you,ll will just need a router, wired, or wireless,
whatever flavor you,ll prefer.
If you,ll plan on sharing files, and printers, just turn sharing on,
and name the workgroup the "same name"
I have 3 linked together,
