What causes the clasp of a necklace being worn to work it's way to the front?

This drives me nuts!

because the clasp is the heaviest thing on the neclace....if you wore a charm with it that weighed more then the clasp then the charm would stay in the front

Clamshell is right. The weight of the clasp causes it to gradually pull around to the front.

Just the movement of your neck and body makes it shift little by little 'til it's up front eventually.

This drives me nuts too.
