It is the only thing that makes my shattered heart come together and beat once more, if for a second. It is the only thing that makes this dark shroud that surrounds me go away, if for a second.

Self mutilation is an act that can never solve a persons desperate attempt to fill a void space in their life. It is an act that I have tried before, and I tell you from experience a person who feels alone and in despare can never solve their problems with self mutilation. Please if you feel this way, don;t make the mistake that so many do don't wait until it's to late, depression is a serious thing and there are so many different ways of dealing with your problems instead of hurting yourself. Think about those that love you for who you are and realize that this is a problem that requires professional help. *Don't wait until it's to late*

Self mutilation in NEVER a cure for anything.

Every act of self mutilation causes your brain to release its own natural pain killers, and that why is seems to feel better, for a second. I suspect, though, that it actually ends up making you feel worse, because it also adds guilt.

There is help available, real honest to goodness help. Please talk to someone with any counseling training - doctors, nurses, clergy persons, any number of hot lines. If you're in school, please talk with a teacher or a guidance counselor. For that matter, if you are still in school, talk with any adult that you trust. They will all be able to help you to get the professional help that you need.

no my girlfriend use to do that before she met me. She has several scars and had to be rushed to the emergency room from loss of blood. Her reason was that her husband use to physically and mentally abuse her and the only way she could get her emotional pain out was to cut.
She goes to a therapist and took medication for a long time and I have notice a huge differance in her attitude in the several months we have been together. Now she says she can't understand why she ever did it or stayed with him for 12 years

self mutilation is an ingenious way to escape an impossible emotional landscape. In short yes, if cutting yourself keeps you from killing yourself then it is o.k in a very loose sense. But it is not a long term solution, you need to get profesional help and as soon as possible.

Why don't you do like us girls? Get some chocolate, a sad movie, and a box of tissues and you just cry it on out. Lifes not that bad. Have a good cry then go try and paste your shattered heart together.

God you ARE Emo!

Seriously listen to me...you need some help. Mutilation is permanent, so no how matter how you feel right now, the scars will be there FOREVER. Like when you are 60 years old and you are still explaining to people why you did what you did.

Things will get better. Time heals all wounds.

You need a hobby. For real :) Go for writing or drawing or something. Or go for a walk. Walks are good. In the trees somewhere. the more you cut, the more you will want to cut.
