Now that Al Davis has fired Art Shell, who should be the Raiders' new head coach? I've heard Rob Ryan, Rick Neuhiesel even Bill Parcells.

No competent coach, who isn't completely desparate, will take the Raiders job.

They shouldn't bother hiring one. Without any power the head coach can't accomplish anything. Al Davis should coach the team since he insists on micro-managing the team into the ground and clinging to football strategies from the 60's. The Raiders have surpassed Arizona & Detroit as the joke franchises of the league. A sad fate for a franchise that was one of the true elite organizations for decades.

The Raiders job isn't exactly one of the most desirable in football, college or pro. Sean Payton was offered the job a few years back and turned it down.

They need a headstrong coach that can go inside that organization and change the culture of ineptitude, because it was really REALLY bad this year. Bill Parcells would be just the guy but Dallas is his last job. Besides he would be trading one WR headache(T.O.) for another(Randy Moss).

I think they go the route of current NFL assistants. Mike Singletary comes to mind. He's hard nosed and wouldn't take any crap from anyone. I think he could go into Oakland and turn that thing around.

A can of spam couldn't do any worse.

It seems unclear about whether or not a resignation was even done. Reports are that Shell and Davis met, he isn't going to be the head coach but will probably stay on as the G.M.

I think they are going to have to hire from within or find someone pretty desperate. There is nothing attractive about the Oakland job to draw someone with even minimal talent.

Actually Art Shell resigned. He didn't get fired. But they're going to have a difficult time finding someone that wants to coach there. I think it will be Kirk Ferentz, the head coach at Iowa. It has always been a lifelong dream of his to coach in the NFL and he will take any available job to do so.

The same person who has been the coach for 100 years.
AL DAVIS, as long as he's around it really dosen't matter who the coach is.

I think Bill Parcells will be fine....

but he does not have a magic stick to fix this crappy franchise. It will take some effort and investmetn to get a better team, as they had before.
