I had same problem ..it was my netgear router causing it & was cured by a firmware upgrade.
Check the latest firmware available by going to http://www.netgear.co.uk/product_support.php Choose your router model from the drop down menu.

Then go into your Netgear account (192.168.0.1) & check if you have the latest firmware update.

Good luck.

Do you have it set up with security? Take the security off and see if that lets you stay connected. Something with your virus protector may be terminating the connection, or your firewall settings.

You may need to get a pcmcia adapter to pull the connection in to your notebook for more strength to the connection. I have a linksys and did buy the adapter when having the same problem, problem fixed... good luck

went through that problem my self. I finaly put an 25 foot eithernet cable between my computer and router, to end the problem.
I had checked for tight card connections antenna placements, signal obstructions, even the ISP service, even the various areas the lap top worked best.

I got tired of the non sence, and went the way of the eithernet cable.
