$1,500. Ford explorer 1993 - 110,000 miles (mostly highway miles.) The car belongs to a friend of mine so I know that she has taken good care of it. But I really didnt want to buy a car that old or do you think its worth it? (I also have a baby on the way and so that was one of the main reasons I wanted a newer car so it was less likely to break down etc)

The price isn't bad, but if it isn't the car you want, then it is a bad deal. However, with a baby on the way, I wouldn't go into debt to buy a car. If the Explorer is a better car than what you have now, and you like it, and you can pay cash for it, you should go for it.
Good luck, and take good care of that baby.

Your friend is offering you a good deal!

BUT if it is not the car you want then why buy it?

Miles and how it were taken care of are one thing but when you purchase a 14 year old car there will me more maintenance than with a new one.

SO, what do you want and how much can you afford?

Go to kellybluebook.com to see if it is worth that amount. Then if it is ask yourself if you think the auto is really dependable and worth it to you. My hubby and I are signing the papers this afternoon on a 98 Blazer. For pretty much the same reasons as you I'm pregnant with our second child and we need something bigger and more dependable than our old car.
