She had snakes as hair. She and her sisters were holding andromeda captive, then this guy (I can't remember his name) came and killed medusa by beheading her; he then placed her head in front of a mirror so that it would turn to stone. Pegasus (winged horse) was born out of her blood, so they all escaped the island and andromeda's father placed on display medusa's head (which was now stone)

Medusa is an evil goddess or beast that everyone despises. She has snakes on her head and if you look into her eyes, you turn in into stone.

Ovid's Metamorphoses. Not entirely about Medusa, but it does relate her full myth cycle as far as I can recall, given that Ovid's writing was so late compared to others who dealt with her.
