You have had some good advice already about your dreams and plans. I am not very familiar with schools in the US that offer flying training, even though I have a private pilot's license myself. I did my flying training in eastern Canada at a flying school in Moncton, New Brunswick, now called Moncton Flight College.

Many Canadians start their flying careers by flying in the north for smaller airlines and in smaller planes and have great adventures in interesting places. Another option some young pilots pursue is to fly water bombers. My advice would be to focus on getting enough training to begin accumulating flying time. Get a floats endorsement so that you can fly for companies that do guided hunting trips into the wilderness and things like that. Begin to investigate flying schools as well as general colleges. You may find that there are a number of options and routes to your dream. As others have said, the only financially easy way to do it is usually through the military. Best of luck with your plans and dreams.

I would agree taht starting at the community college level would be good for you. Some schools have avation managment programs that could really help you. I dont know if there are any in FL but i know someone who went to a school in Tenn. and studied that. Ask youre school counselor about scholorships and where to look for them. you'd be surprised how many difffernet kinds are out there.

If you are looking at joining the airforce to fly i wouldnt reccomend it. My freind is a pilot in the military and he looked into before he started, the airforce actually has the least chance for you to be a pilot. The Marines is the more likely rout to get you flying (thats what my friend did and he is over in Iraq flying helicopters) There are great opportunites after the military for pilots though...you get all youre training and hours done for free while in the military.

It might be wise to consider going to a community college for a year or so to boost your GPA and get some of your prerequisites in order to transfer to a 4 year school. Check out collegeboard.com to find schools in your area that offer the program you want. Good Luck!

i agree with courtney (last answer). my boyfriend is obsessed with helicopters and loves them.. he joined the military to get to learn and work with them more. he is in the navy and works with them.. he has never been on a boat all 5 years in the navy except to drop things or people off. You would be suprised, there are alot of air bases for the navy they have lots of aircraft (of all different kind from jets, helicopters, ect.) and its alot safer way to go then some of the other military branches. But dont go in unless you are really prepared and want to be in, they have alot of fun.. but its alot of hard work as well. After your 4 years got out and use the GI bill for school. Like courtney said... you will get alot of hours and information for free and then get school for free as well..
