I did for several years. It was the size of a typical american bedroom and had a small bathroom and kitchenette (microwave, no stove). I lived like this for 3 years overseas. You really cut down on "necessities". You figure out that you dont need a ton of clothes, games, etc. You keep minimum dishes and food. You learn to maximize your space with shelving or a captains bed (drawers under the bed) or a pull out couch instead.

Sure, why not.
There is a great book that came out in the 70's called "One Room Living". It details ways to maximize living and storage space, novel ways to double usage in limited spaces, unique storage solutions, using vertical space, etc.
I doubt it's still in print, but it was very well done with full color pictures, diagrams and construction plans for folding beds, shelves, and the like.
If you can find it, you may be surprised at the quality of life afforded to one room living.

Just you? No one else living with you? It can be done indefinitely, I'm sure. I mean, people live on the streets, so one room is better than no room, right? And people live in hotel rooms, I had to for 3 months one time.

yes, when my husband and I were first married we lived in a motel room that had a bed, stove, refrigerator and a room divider with a toilet and tub, oh and we had a sink.........we lived there until our oldest daughter was 1 yr old! We both worked and she spent the day in day care but it was home. We sure were happy though we that ended!

YES, VERY MUCH POSSIBLE. STILL IT DEPENDS ON THE FOLLOWING FACTORS.
1 THE REQUIREMENTS EXPECTED OUT OF THAT ROOM FOR THE PERSON
2 THE TIME SPENT IN THE ROOM EVERY DAY
3 THE DEFINITION OF THE TERM "LONG TERM"
4 THE FEELING OF CONTENTION WITH THE PERSON.

Seeing as how you said "live out of" and not "live in" one room, then the answer is yes. I get restless anyway. So I would not be spending all too much time there...always out and about.

i lived in a studio apartment like that once and it's ok, but i got a little stir crazy after a while. plus, it's kind of unnerving having people over and having them all over every little area you live with no privacy at all.

I would get bored out of my mind, but I probably survive as long as I had all the basic necessities.
