Ann Baird is better for two reasons. The spelling is a heck of a lot easier to figure out and B puts you closer to the top shelf in fiction. By the time people reach the Ms, they've usually found something to read.
Annie may sound more friendly, but it complicates the spelling. Ann is better. Librarians will like you.

I agree, I like Ann Baird, though you want to keep it easy to spell and memorable. People who hear the name should be able to spell it if they look for your works at a bookstore or online. It could be "Anne Bayrd", or "Ayn Baerd". You'd be surprised how people mess up the simplest names.
By the way, it used to be a game to pick your stage name this way:
1. Your first pet's name = your first name
2. The street you were born on = your last name.
I came out with "Feathers Kenilworth"!
It could be worse: "Rover 113th"!

Do the names mean something special to you?
I don't use a pen name but I do have on ready if the need arises. I plan on using my middle name as the first name, and my husband's as my last name. I've also heard the formula of using your middle name and the name of the street that you live on. Try thinking of something that has meaning--uses your grandmother's maiden name. I know a author who uses the name of a 19th century outlaw as his pen name, while his own given name is very unusual--the outlaw's name is common but the way the outlaw died was unique. This man is a successful horror writer.

Sometimes using a triple name rolls off the tongue just so and enables your fans to understand it too. There have been movie stars and TV stars who have had the triple name, and it is hard to forget. The pen name I always use to want was "Adelaine Anne March"

I plan to use my first initial then my maiden name Porter, then my real last name, because then people will think I'm a man and I will sell more books.
