Why are you purposely trying to start a racism argument? There's enough without someone purposely asking a racially charged question.

I'd like to know how a movie that is based on a true story can be racist? A teacher went into a school, saw a problem and came up with a solution to fix it. Teacher's do this same thing everyday; day in and day out. The reason we don't see movies about teachers who go into the backwoods of the mountains of Tennessee, Kentucky, or West Virginia is because the students in those schools aren't considered at risk.
They really don't have to worry about other students walking into their classroom and shooting up the place. It may happen on some rare occasion but it's not an everyday occurence. Kids don't go to school strapped to the gills with weapons. The only weapons a school kid ever uses is the shotgun or rifle for hunting.
Maybe you consider it racist to tell a true story but I for one am happy that this teacher was willing to risk her life, and it was at risk, to keep future gang members off the streets and living honest lives as productive citizens. I applaud any teacher who would do that; no matter the color.

Thats true. There are soooo many movies that have been donw about white teachers who go into inner city schools and "clean the kids up". Why is that? The only movie i can think of that has a black teacher is Coach Carter, but he was a basketball coach. oh, and Im no where near a racist!!!!! I love everyone!

first of all it doesn't matter about the teachers race its there teaching that gets to them not there race because the teachers race is not helping them with the problems and also i think you should see lean on me because that teacher did alot for those kids and in freedom writers there 's not just African American people in there's a lot of different decent groups in the movie.

Are you high? There have been several movies that deal with inspiring teachers who are not white. Lean on Me, Stand and Deliver, To Sir with Love, 187, and there are probably others.

Hey, hey- You forget Sister Act II with Whoopie Goldberg. She is certifiably black, and taught children in a movie... Though, I can't remember what colour the children were...

I remember a movie called Lean On Me perhaps you should watch it. With your comparison to a ape movie it seems you are the one who is racist.
