Great movie.
Read the book by Jim Thompson. Read any book by Jim Thompson. When Hollywood made his novel "The Getaway" into a movie, they screwed it up so bad that he swore he would never let Hollywood near any of his books again. After he died his family started to let movies get made using his books. Fortunately the people making his stories come to life on the big screen now are fans so I think he would be happy with the outcome. The Grifters is very close to the book. The scene with Annette benning and the fat landlord is classic! Another great movie from a Jim Thompson novel is "After Dark, My Sweet". It came out in 1990 and stars Rachel Ward & Jason Patric.

I thought so. It's quite gritty, and definitely not PC.

Great film....the plot is twisting and you're never sure who's grifting who!
