I am not a fan of the current pope, but to be fair, two things need to be noted: 1) He didn't really do any fighting; he was in the Hitlerjugend, which was a sort of glorified Boy Scouts 2) He didn't have a choice about it.

Nope. You were probably willing to do the "right thing" when you were 20, too. As you get older, you learn when and where to take a stand.

It's no mistake that most of the insurgents in Iraq and elsewhere are young men between 15 and 30. They are more easily led than older men who have learned a few things about the world.

no, it did not bother me that the Pope used to fight for Germany because it was for the Hitler youth who was not supposed to be fightning in the fiirst place but was forced into fighting for the leadership of a mad demonic leader who only cared for the raising of Germany to his expectations and when he saw it failing he decided he did not care even if Germany was completely annihilated including its future seen with its youth. The Pope was forced to fight like all the Hitler youth to the point of death for desertion.

No, because we all do things in our younger life that maybe we regret now. He is a pope now and he is trying to make the world a better place.

Not really. There were many young men who were forced to serve under Hitler. That doesn't mean they approved of what Hitler was doing.
