Okay, I've heard a lot of people say, "I wish I could remember the dream I had last night!" Well, the thing is, I have no trouble with remembering most of the dreams I have. But, I want to STOP remembering. I have some pretty dark and gruesome dreams and everytime I wake up I just have a bad mental state after. I mean, I have random dreams about people getting their heads cut off and sewed back on (still alive though). I have dreams about dying. I have dreams about random people I attended school with who are dead asking for help. Help? Wtf? I have a random mind I guess. But, the one last night- There was this girl who chopped off her head in a suicide attempt but they sewed it back on and she didn't die. I ended up meeting her. Her face haunted my dreams last night. And, I have never seen that face before in my life. It is totally strange! I have the worst dreams ever! Can anyone relate?

Thanks ;)

Your name-"Mortician"- is that your occupation and you are new to the job?
This is my explanation and I hope it makes sense to you. A mind is a steel trap. In your waking hours, your mind (brain, intellect, senses) is bombarded with a lot of stimuli-work, decision making, information, inside and outside news, bits and pieces of speculation, discoveries, police reports on the radio etc. What happens is that your brain attempts to file them all in a logical order:-i.e.remember, memorize, learn, retain for use, retain for probable use, solve problem, useless information, must discard or completely forget.
Sometimes, your mind continues to work while you are sleeping. This is where your sleeping mind tries to connect the dots, hence the nightmares.
Make it a point to pray before you sleep, or just will yourself to have a good night's sleep. Mentally turn the lights off the filing function. Save the work for the next day.

oh, really creepy. Maybe you could do some writing about the dreams. One way you can process it is to "talk" to each part of the dream. Ask the girl who chopped her head off why she was so upset. Ask the people who sewed her head back on how they did it Ask the ax she used to chop her head off what it was thinking to be chopping a girl instead of wood. I've had series of dreams before that eventually did resolve.

It's possible there's something in your environment that's bothering you while you're sleeping. I used to have an alarm clock that ticked loudly, and I'd have really creepy dreams when it was out. Once I put it in a drawer so I couldn't hear the ticking, I was fine.

I think talking about dreams to friends and older people you trust is very helpful. You can also re-imagine the dream during the day and change what happens. You could rescue the person before they chop their head off.

You could think about how you relate to your own "head." This is random speculation, but maybe you act "dumb" sometimes and your intellect is trying to get a message to you that it feels abandoned. Hope you feel better.

I know it may sound weird, but I tend to have bad dreams like that whenever I eat anything remotely sweet before I go to sleep. I dont know if it's the same for you, but try to pay attention to what you take in a couple hours before you sleep. Also, I noticed that I when I sleep heavier (like after a big meal or taking benadryl for my runny nose) I dont remember my dreams. I hope this helps, even just a little.

Your name has to do with death. Do you think about it a lot? That's going to influence your dreams.
