I hate to clean house but here is what I do. I got three plastic totes and put in my cleaning supplies. One for bathroom, one for kitchen and one for the rest of the house. I grab my timer, my tote and an empty laundry basket, and walk into a room. I set the timer for 15 minutes, it is all the time I will spend in the room cleaning. I start in the living room because that is where people come in first. First I pick up the trash ( old mail, newspapers ash trays etc.) Then anything else lying around. I don't wear shoes in my house I have a rack beside the door. It cuts down on tracked in dirt. I straighten the rack and throw any clothes extra shoes etc in the laundry basket. Next I vacum the floor then dust. Fluff any pillows and I am done. If there is time left and there ususally is I do little extras. ie. dust th blinds straighten the curtains etc. You save time by not leaving the room to get other things or put things away and having a set time limit lets me play a mind game with myself that what ever I need to get done can wait 15 minutes. I do the kitchen next. I put a cup of water in the microwave for 3 minutes the stream from the water makes it easier to clean. Unload the dishwasher and then load it up again. I clean the stove, the micowave and the counters and then the sink. I buy somethng called a majic eraser and I love that thing. It cleans everything without a bunch of bottles and paper towels to drag around. I check on how my times is doing then I open the refer. Once a week I throw out any left overs and wipe it down. I grab my swifter and go over the floor. So it goes for each room. The rule for me is I spend 15 minutes in each room and no more. If I have time left I do something extra like straighten a cabinet or drawer, maybe wipe fingerprints off a wall. When I first started this I often ran out of time before I got finished but now I can move throught he house quickly. I do not clean every room every day. I clean a couple rooms a day with the exception of the dishwasher. If you can spend 30 minutes playing on the computer or watching TV you have the time to keep your house clean. At the end of the thrity minutes put up the tote, empty your laundry basket and make yourself a nice cup of something. If you have small child you can make cleaning a game for them ie OK we will have two minutes to find all the cars we can. or pick up all the dolls etc. Use the timer childen love to rach the clock and it breaks cleaning down in small parts. Give them a treat after you finish the game. Their toys are put away, you have spent some time with them playng a game and there were no fights about clean your room.

Clean microwave: nuke a bowl of water - the steam helps loosen spots that need wiped.
Disinfect a sponge: place in microwave for 1.5 min.
Clean garbage disposal: place lemon juice & a couple ice cubes down drain & turn on disposal.

I know this sounds weird, but a friend recommended to me that laundry stain remover products actually work on counters/stovetops. Plus they make the place smell great!

A Swiffer is also a great tool - - cleans messes very quickly!

Move through the house one room at a time...going back and forth wastes time. My favorite tip is to work from top to bottom, saving the floors for last, that way you don't have to re-vacumn the floor after you clean the counters, spilling crumbs and debris on the floor again.
