They strike me as being less whiny than Gen x-ers, and less selfish and spoiled than my fellow baby boomers. I think they're the best group to come along since the WWII generation. In some ways they're even better than that generation since they're not as prejudiced/closed minded, I just don't know if they are as willing/able to make the kinds of sacrifices that generation made for the good of others.

We will place you in much nicer nursing homes than you created! We are much more open minded, even though a few, but not all are rasicts like the good ol' days, we can probably bring peace if we all try.
We are disadvantaged by the horrible propaganda, beliefs, cultural shaping those older generations have developed around us just to make money, and my sad generation got sucked into.
Everybody now is just a number, and that is a huge disadvantage it makes it harder to survive (financially atleast) every one's specific situation is meaningless if they don't meet a certain criteria.
We have the advantage of much more advanced technology, and more education available for us so we can push the growth of our world surrounding us in every way possible.
THose who grew up in America sadly actually need a whole lot of help. The majority isn't soberminded, they're pre-occupied with parties, pot, and underage drinking, the newest coolest oh my gosh outfit!. But there are a bright few whom I have hope in.

Education. Easily.
1980 was when Reagan hit office and when the conservative side of American politics really started to *push* for gutting the funding of Public schools. Combine this with the really *harsh* long-term effects of White Flight in many cities (wherein people got fed up with school busing and intergration policies, and moved out, taking their money and *tax base* with them), and you have a situation where a whole generation is at risk, all at once, for:
--school shootings,
--no arts, music, or in-depth science classes,
--negligence in sex & health education, and in P.E. classes too,
--teachers trained to *protect student feelings* instead of protecting *themselves* and maintaining *order* in the classroom,
--teachers AND principals alike having their hands tied on bullying issues courtesy of militant and politicized parent-teacher boards wherein the Problem Students Never Do Anything Wrong,
--And ALSO schools where the bulidings are falling *apart*, where kids have to *share books and pencils* and where there aren't enough *desks* to go around...
Basically...since 1980 the money hasn't been spent, fairly or otherwise, on Public Education and it *shows* with the caliber of thought and conduct that plagues the Millenial generations (I'd argue that there are more than one of them simply because all these changes didn't hit everywhere at once, so some kids are more messed up by them than others). People *refuse* to spell correctly. People *refuse* to have any manners or show any respect to *adults who are BIGGER than they are* out in public. People don't know what music is, don't know what the scientific method *means*, barely are able to read more than a handful of words at a time, can't even shop for groceries (never mind handling higher maths like algebra or calculus), don't care to know *any more* history than what the *highly biased media* spoon-feeds them...
Need I go on? :)
