I don't really like them very much at all. I think they're indie... but I think I'm wrong.

Alternative

They are not alternative/heavy/euro or anything else... everything is really pop-rock after it gets popular.. As per the name "Pop-rock" which means popular rock... PATD is popular now with kids, so it is "pop" rock... Even with it's sound, it's not some new sound or alternative sound, it's pop rock, like mickey mouse music, catchy popular crap... ya dig?

P.S. All of these people on here saying this isn't pop-rock, and they don't fit into a category are just blind by thinking that a band they like is the best in the world... It is by far pop-rock, it's totally geared towards 13-16 year olds, and only out there for making money, not art. How are all these people saying alternative??? Alternative music was pretty much defined by Nirvana, and PATD sounds nothing like them, or pearl jam, or pretty much anyone else that is in the alternative music category...

THEY ARE POP-MICKEY-MOUSE-CRAP-ROCK

If you say you don't like them, you'll get less answers from the fans... just saying.

I'm a big fan, and I've seen them called everything. In the beginning, when I started liking them, they were just indie rock... then people started calling them emo (falsely), alternative (very loosely), pop (also falsely... the subject matter and lyrics are nothing like modern pop), and random five-word made-up genres.

The best I've seen so far has got to be trip hop cabaret dance punk.

I don't think Panic! At the Disco fits in a specific category, actually. In the DVD, they said that journalist are always making up new categories for them (Trip-Hop-Cabaret-Alternative, etc...), but that in reality, they don't fit in anything.

Panic at the disco is rock I thought. I don't really listen to them either but I do hear them occasionally.

I think they fall into the EMO category, I don't like them either. The EMO rock thing seems pretty stupid to me. I think it supposed to be emotional alternative/rock. I thought all music was supposed to evoke emotion. Just seems ( and sounds) like crap to me.

Bigred-- the conception of "emo" now is totally distorted. "Emos" are very emotional and depressed, while P!ATD are not. Just because they have that certain "look" doesn't mean they are emo.

Anyways, I think P!ATD are alt-rock or pop-rock, like others have already said.

PS: I <333333333 P!ATD
