True enough . I have to laugh to myself when I see avatars trying to promote muscles or sex - to sell an image rather than a thought , figuring those people must really look quite opposite & need attention ... and so they get it from those they take in ..
It's not just image that tends to manipulate a lot of people . There's a political party on the far left promoting global warming in order to secure your money and your fear into letting them trick you into more government . People in Russia who are freezing to death probably never heard of global warming . .If we believed Algore ten years ago , the oceans would be dried up by now .Yet , people can be manipulated .Americans can't even cut down a tree on their own property in some places in the United States..and they don't even see it coming .

I don't think instances is the right word - I think the expression should be "all the time".
Our society seems to be obsessed with the so-called cult of celebrity and image.
Personally I couldn't give a monkey's about idiots like Paris Hilton and her useless friends...........what a waste of oxygen !

I think that many people are that way all the time. Fortunately not everyone is so easily fooled by "image". But hey, you can't really change them if that's where their minds are... and based on your question, you're not among them, so that's a good thing. :)

jus seems like people care only about external appearances..nothin about 'beauty is only skin deep'..!
at times u have to change it to 'beauty is only money deep'..
itz no wonder that da phrase 'beauty without brains' keeps comin up so often..!
there hav been lotsa instances
i really appreciate those people who go for the behavior of a person, instead of looks..
