Was Miram Polar pregnant for her brother Tony Polar in the movie? I never really understood that scene with her on the phone with her doctor.

It was Tony's wife, Jennifer North Polar, who was pregnant. Tony's sister, Miram, convinced Jennifer that Tony's disase was congenital and that she should get an abortion.

Yes I've seen it, and I remember it to be a sad movie.
What's really sad though is that Sharon Tate, who played Jennifer in that movie, was brutally murdered while 8-1/2 months pregnant less than 2 years later. Unfortunately, I will always associate the Manson murders with that film.

i do not exactly remember this scene but Miriam was not pregnant, Jennifer, Tony's wife was pregnant. Miriam convinced Jennifer to have an abortion because of Tony's disease.

I saw it when it came out because the book was so good. The movie was disappointing. I do not remember the detail you're asking about - sorry.

Yes, so long ago. The acting was not very good; the book was better. Afraid I don't remember the characters very well.
