she has an accident... she breaks her back or something...or busts her spinalcord and is wheelchair bound. Her boyfriend comes to see her after months of treatments expecting her to walk..but she actully wanted to show him that she got function back in her hands....by grabbing a handful of potato chips...n he was all upset b/c he couldn't deal with the fact that she was paralyzed....thats all I remember. It might me a true story. It came out on the Disney channel in the early to mid 90's. I watched it once..n ever since then I wondered what it was called. Its a great movie.

That was an amazing movie! I cried every time I watched it. Jill Kinmont is still alive and she runs a special school for the handicapped in Bishop California. Since you enjoyed this movie, you may want to check out the sequel to it as it goes into the events surrounding how she started the school. Here's a link to it on IMDB.
