I agree and I complain also but to be honest, whilst we're over here moaning, they're most probably laughing their way to the bank this minute!
When most of them (not all), carry out random acts of kindness, and then call themselves 'philanthropists', it's all a meaningless publicity stunt to only better their own career.
It's pathetic but sometimes I do wonder; if I was in their position, how would I behave?

Well, think of it this way If you had several hundred million dollars, would you live in a 3 bedroom house in the suburbs? Or would you buy a large house in a private neighbourhood to secure yourself some privacy and comfort?
Celebrities are self-centred in general, focusing on their image and appearance. But that's a product of our celebrity obsessed society. We buy the magazines that are filled with their pictures and interviews. We dictate that their jobs basically be about their image.
Celebs are, technically, under no more obligation that we are to help charities and those in need. That many of them do help is great. So what if it's a publicity stunt? At least their giving money. Money that, with a little luck, will et to the people who need it most. And there are those celebs who genuinely want to help. Look at Bono from U2 and Sir Bob Geldoff and their work on Third World debt. They have made a difference; it made bot be a huge difference but without them it would never have happened.
Ultimately, we create celebs so if their a bunch of self righteous, egotistical pricks, we've really only got ourselves to blame. Excuse the language.

You're right, but there are many other people that make that kind of money also, that wouldn't give a dime. PEOPLE are self-centered; trust me, I work for a charity helping handicapped kids. It kills me to see how many millionaires will give $20 at a fundraiser and a middle class family of five will give $2000.
But at the same time, there are always going to be people in the world that are selfish, rather than focus our energy on complaining about them; we should be out there doing something to help. Just because we don't have the money they do, sometimes volunteering can be just as beneficial.

When people are rich, they spend more, it is just like that. So they change their spending habits on how much money they have. So basically it seems like they are being self centered. Then what about you? Are you working extra jobs just to give to charity? Probably not, so even you are self centered without you actually realizing it, it is just in human nature to think of themselves before others.

I think your generalization is unfair. Most wealthy people are extremely generous with their money. They donate their money and their celebrity to help others, they establish foundations, they invest in the future. In addition, they provide income and employment to realtors, housekeepers, chauffeurs, body guards, cooks, trainers, and the other people they hire to provide services.
And why do you exclude Oprah? She's a cool dude? She lives in a lush mansion.....while, pardon me, millions of people are living in the streets. Why doesn't she live in a modest house and give all her money away?
Frankly, my opinion of Oprah is that she EARNED her money. She can do whatever she wants with it! If she never gave a penny to the poor, that is certainly her choice. It's none of our business.

Exactly. If they had so much extra money, they should have donated to the poor or set up any fund for the needy. Self-centered they are, they're only humans like us,not gods.

Yes they're sooo self-centered, and they will always be that way in my opinion. Most of them are anyway, and that's why many people criticize them so negatively.
