i actually read an article about this just a few days ago. modern dish washers are so efficient it actually uses less than your average hand washed load. what with filling the sink up then going through and rinsing

it depends....if you leave the water running while you are washing them by hand htne i would have to say that....but if not..then the dishwasher would use more
