why don't you go spend a week in one, and after you come back out with a different sexual preference, no teeth, several pounds lighter because you aren't allowed to eat your own food, and a few stab wounds, we'll discuss the conditions that you say are too luxurious! lol

Let's see: they have books, workout rooms, music rooms, the yard where they can play outdoor games, just to name of few of the things I don't feel are necessary. Ok, so some of the inmates aren't so bad, does that mean they should get special privileges? They committed a crime! It shouldn't be a vacation. I watched the special on TV about the prisons. This guy was really violent, and yet he still had books and stuff in his room. He threw the books at the guards and once stabbed a guard with his knife. I think even a knife and a book should be considered special privileges. So what they have to stare at a blank wall all day. They broke the law. It shouldn't be a cakewalk, that defeats the whole purpose of the punishment. They get out of prison and break the law again because its a nice place to them.
Hope this helps. I tried not to just soapbox...

Depends on what kind of prison. There is five different levels of prisons. Don't know much sorry. But maybe checkout the BOP's website for information that can help. Also I don't know how much time you have. But there is a book I had to read for a class about the prison system. If I can remember the name. It might help. Don't know how much time you have though.

ok, exaple....a poor thief steals a car and sells it...he isn't caught and with the money he buys a bed and food...now, a thief steals a car and gets caught...he gets to be in an airconditioned building with a workout place and free food and tv and showers and can even make buddies inside prison....not to mention that he will come back out to the real world and re do everyting again because he had a good time in prison.

yes I agree, in fact many homeless people commit crimes to get into prison, and the worst part is that WE the taxpayers have to pay for that. And many people who are very poor, pay taxes and are living in worst conditions than those in the prisons, its wacked up

WE HAVE A FEDERAL PRISON IN OUR TOWN, I TOURED IT BEFORE IT OPENED. THEY HAVE A LARGE ROOM TO LIVE IN, REC ROOM WITH ANY AND EVERYTHING TO KEEP THEM BUSY, LIBRARY, IF THEY HAVEN'T GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL, THEY GO TO SCHOOL TO DO THAT, I THINK THAT'S A GOOD IDEA, IF NOT GOING TO SCHOOL, THEY HAVE JOBS TO DO THAT THEY GET PAID A LITTLE TO DO, GOOD FOOD, I HAD SOME OF THE GOODIES MADE BY INMATES, MEDICAL HELP, EVEN THE SOLIDARITY CONFINE AREA WAS NICE AND I WOULDN'T MIND BEING IN IT AWAY FROM EVERYONE ELSE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR REPORT. THEY ALSO HAVE A ROOM FOR CHURCH AND TV WITH DIFFERENT LANGUAGES IF THEY DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH, REALLY, I THINK THEY SHOULD LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH.
