The way i see it is, Green Day is a bunch of 40 year old men, still appearing in magazines for teenagers. They arent teenagers anymore and their music should reflect what they have learned over the years as a band emotionally, spiritually, dramatically. Not all of these whiney songs about being on a buelvarde of broken dreams, They are millionaires with legions of 13-20 year olds following them around like they still came out in 1992.
The only difference between green day NOW and green day THEN is a Lack of heart, their heart is gone, they sing the same punk pop jargon that every other punk popped on MTV and Much Music decides to sing. Back in the Day, they were crass they had attitude, and balls, If you want some good punk rock listen to from the world of today listen to some Strike Anywhere, Left Over Crack, Choking Victim, Hot Water Music, Nofx. If you want some awesome punk rock from the older days, Get some Old NoFx, Black Flag, The Misfits. The Sex pistols were what punk was all about, angry violent and fighting for the sake of fighting. Not being whiney and wearing makeup.

no, they still rock very hard..I saw them play in Poland on American Idiot and it was better than in '98 Nimrod tour..

Don't think their too poppy, a lot of people like them but they are also politically informed and savvy..they have an opinion about BUsh , Iraq and Katrina (that snees to be broadcasted) and their not afraid to put it out there regardless of what MTV or you the listener thinks...

TO me thats what punk rock is all about..how many anti-war yet pro american anthems did all those other crappy bands write?

Green Day? Are those the 40 year old farts who still pretend to be kids? The joke about rockers? They have always been pathetic with all the grinning and acting - they are nice momma's boys and you can so see through the act. But now that they are old, they are laughable and embarrassing. Makes you respect all those real, original punks who retirted before making jokes of themselves.

I love Green Day, as does my hubby and several of my good friends. Old skool stuff and New stuff, it all rocks from 10:39 to American Idiot.

Nope, you are not the only fan remaining. Green Day rocks, and their music just keeps improving, reflecting their personal and musical progression. If you feel outnumbered, you should check out this site: greendaycommunity.org. There are still enough of us around :)
P.S. I should warn you, teenies are not well tolerated there.

Green Day is awesome and always has been. People who say they sold out are just jealous. Just because a lot of different kinds of people like them does not mean they suck!
