I'm 22 and been on hormone replacement therapy because my body does not produce hormones and estrogen on its own. At first I felt sexual desire and then after that I have no sexual desire whatsoever.

Is that normal?

I take premarin and progesterone.

Talk to your doctor. You may need to have one of your pills adjusted.

I have been on the Pill for thirteen years for my hormonal problem and they have actually made me have sexual desire. Before I started taking them, I had none.

It all depends on what kind of hormone replacment thereapy your on. If your body does not produce enuff estrogen then your desire will go down and when you have the replacment drugs to put it back in, then yes,...you desire will pick back up....and NO it's not normal....When the pituitary gland fails to produce the right amounts of hormones for the body, not only does your sex drive goes down, it will have all sorts of other affects too, mood swings, depression, pian in the muscles and joints even memory. TRUST ME on this because i'm goin thru the same thing too........and i'm a guy.....and if your Growth hormone is being affected then you need to go seen an Endocrinologist and have them do LABS and have them secedule you for an MRI to look at your pituiary gland!

Because if your Growth Hormone is higher or keeps getting higher than it should be, then it will increase you Mortality rate as well. I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT ON THIS PARTICULAR SUBJECT!!!

I have been on HRT for nearly 29 years and still have plenty of desire. BUT I don't take progesterone, it made me really mean and hateful. I was only on it for about the first year.

I will say mine is from complete surgical menopause, so our results could be different.

Let you Dr. know the problem, you may need different dosages or different prescriptions.

You may need the right lover. True Talent can do wonders.

It's normal. The therapy is creating lots of estrogen (and so are the pills) and this will you give you low sexual desire. It's just what it does.

After my girlfriend went on birth control her sexual desire went down the drain, and fast.

Your oestrogen dosage may be too high, causing oestrogen dominance. Some doctors do not realise that it is not just your ovaries that produce oestrogen, but also the fat cells, liver and adrenal glands. Even women who have gone through Menopause will often still produce adequate amounts of oestrogen.

Symptoms of Oestrogen Dominance include:

- water retention
- breast tenderness
- PMS, mood swings
- depression
- loss of libido
- heavy or irregular periods
- fibroids
- craving for sweets
- weight gain (especially around the hips and thighs).

If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, you may have oestrogen dominance and should talk to your doctor about reducing the dosage of oestrogen.

when a patient is given hormones in pill form to replace the ones their body is no longer producing enough of or not producing at all. This can be caused by menopause, malfunctioning hormone producing glands, or removal of the ovaries.

You might be missing a tiny bit of testosterone (yes, women do produce a "male" hormone, but only about 1/10 as much as guys). Ask your Dr. about it....
