Contact the buyer and if they don't want to purchase your item, you can send second chance offer to the underbidders. Please know that you should only send one Second chance offfer at any given point of time to one underbidder. If you send two second chance offer to any two bidders and if both bidder accepts your offer, then you will be in trouble.....because you will have only one item to sell.. however if you have two identical items.. then no probs... :-)

I always wait till 3 days after the auction closed and if there is no reply at all from the winner, I report them and email the Second Chance bidder.

I'd let them know that it looks like you might be offering them a second chance as soon as I open the dispute. That way they know - but you aren't stuck selling it twice.
I'm surprised how often the disputes don't seem to complete the original sale.

any sooner and i think its against ebay rules anyway, but 7 days is a reasonable time to wait.
