We name our snakes after weapons, usually knives, Khukuri (KOO-Ker-ee), and Ka-Bar.

Seems to work well since snakes are all business when it's feeding time.

I like strange or exotic names...I love Tiamet for a snake, it's the name of a Sumerian snake goddess. But my snakes names are/have been:

The Montezuma Puma (this was NOT my choice)
Sharky
Kira
Jazimon
Miss Kitty (My baby conda)
Froedrick
Fang (again, not my choice)
Mikke (Mickey)
'Issy boo boo (not my snake, it's a foster)
Bulma/Gypsy

Past names:
Maelstrom
Machiavelli
Buttercup
Scarletta
Saffron
Akkary

I thought the guy who said to name it after a biblical name was neat, but the two he gave were like the most common and typical names that someone would give a snake. And besides they are sort of negative ones and that whole thing is one reason why some people think badly of snakes. I named my Red-Tail Boa after one of the people from the book of Ruth in the Old Testament, Boaz (pronounced Bo - azz) I thought if fit pretty well, Boaz the Boa.

My 5 snakes are:
Morgan - named for the "Morgan-Maumelle" exit off I-40, which is the exit you take to get to the pet store at which I bought her.

Neon - named for her flourescent green and blue coloration

Bryon - a rearrangement of the snake's original name "Browny" used by his previous owner

Kay - a variation on the letter "K" which was the first letter of her original name by her previous owner (I sometimes refer to her as "Agent K").

Java - so called because as a baby he was very spastic and hyper, as though on an endless caffeine rush.

Other interesting names I've used are:

Regis - ball python; a play on the snake's scientific name Python regius

Shiva the Ancient - corn snake. Shiva was his original name. I added "the Ancient" because his previous owner indicated that he was over 20 years old.

Short circuit - water snake so named because of his calm nature with the tendency to spazz without warning

Most of my other snakes only had cutesy nicknames.
